Intensity Matters (IM) is Tokyo, Japan’s first outdoor training gym, focusing on functional training… exercise with a purpose. That purpose could be getting better at everyday activities—like walking, squatting to pick up something heavy, or pushing furniture around your apartment—or preparing to compete in a sport, like soccer, rugby, or running a marathon. A functional workout is simply one that strengthens you in a particular way that directly translates to an activity outside the gym.
We place importance on building safe physical movement first. That way you go home healthier than before, not with crutches. Workouts should be as effective as they are exciting and fun. That’s why we often team up for workouts and warm up with games that make you forget you are actually exercising. But when it’s time to get down to business, intensity matters! It’s been proven that to grow bigger, faster, stronger, and better, you have to push your limits. Comfort zones don’t build success. So we encourage you to give all you have to your workouts. Don’t hold back! No matter how advanced or beginner a workout may seem though, we scale movements to meet you where you are. That way you can always bring your A-game. Sweat more. Get more. Be more.
